| The St. Athansios Association of
the United States funded the construction of Perista's elementary
school in 1926. It remained functional until 1990, when it had to
be closed due to a lack of students. Though it houses no students now, it used to house
about 150 students - of varying grade levels - each year during
the busy years of 1940-5. |

The building's two rooms
now house the village doctor's office and the other room is used
for community functions. A plaque recognizing the St.
Athanasios Association's contribution to the school's construction
is affixed to the front of the building. |
