| The small
church devoted to the Holy Mother, located northwest of the village,
was also build upon the crumbled remains of an older church. A marble
plaque on its western face reads: "Panagia Serbiou 1923."
Its positively breathtaking
location has led many to conjecture that there may have been an
ancient temple situated there during times when Christianity was
just becoming known in the region.
In addition, Nikos Papathanasopoulos
was exploring the area around the church before the war, and found
a plaque with the inscription "Ekaterinis Presvyteras" (Katherine the elder?).

The church festival is held
on August 23.
In the past, there may
have been a small settlement in the area, in particular serving
those families who toiled in the vineyards nearby. The entire
area is more generally known as "Panagies," because of the fertility
and beauty associated with the land there.
The largest disadvantage
is the lack of plentiful water, and the fact that a few feet away
is the steep, deadly cliff of Tsokas, which overlooks the river
Fidaris far down below.

"By holding as infant, in your arms
O pure one,
the ruler of everything who was incarnated from you,
you were seen as the cause of joy;
wherefore all creation, sings with exceeding joy,
your awesome child-birth, O Theotokos today;
for you carried in your womb, the fount of salvation.
(Tone 4)"

Holy Theotokos
